The Cymbal Experience
Cymbal is more than a music festival.
We’re uniting various strands of contemporary culture – music, heritage, art, sustainability – to bring you an intimate experience in a breath-taking venue: the historic and magnificent Jai Vilas Palace.
For the first time in 145 years, the palace will be opening its doors to the 180 acre compound for a 48-hour long celebration with some of the world’s most promising electronic music acts along with a vibrant mix of Madhya Pradesh focused talent from the Gwalior Gharana of Tansen.
Hosted in Gwalior, Cymbal has easy connectivity to any of the major cities, catering both to local and international audiences. With involvement from the locals as entrepreneurs and vendors coupled with a heightened focus on the environment, we aim to be a leading festival in sustainability.
Cymbal strives to be an example for the future with its initiatives.

The Venue
In a historic moment, Jai Vilas Palace will be opening its doors for a public event for the first time in 145 years. Surrounded by lush, calming forests, the palace boasts 180 acres as its compound, including a 300-year old Amphitheatre ingested with an ancient meditation cave.
Taking 12 years to construct, the palace was established in 1874 by the Maharaja of Gwalior. The white palace has 400 rooms, 40 of which are now museums. The interior is ornate constructed in a blend of Tuscan and Corinthian architecture with Italian marble floors draped by lavish Persian carpets.
The Durbar Hall of the palace houses a pair of chandeliers, said to be the largest in the world with each weighing over 3 tonnes. It is said that before these were hung, elephants were hoisted on to the roof as a load bearing safety test.
